I grew up in Cornwall where nature and wildlife were always part of my life. I was the kid with containers full of caterpillars, tadpoles, scrawled notes, drawings and “Insect Diaries”! Initially, this interest led me to study veterinary medicine and I worked in practice for 14 years.

Having started to teach my own children about wildlife and the natural world it has been a stark realisation that the wildlife and nature they see has declined so much from what I saw during my own childhood. I felt it was time for me to move into a role that makes me feel I am part of a positive change for the future of our local wildlife and I am very excited to be part of the Wildlife Warden team.

As well as being the Wildlife Warden Coordinator I regularly volunteer for Buglife’s Blue Ground Beetle project and am involved in a variety of wildlife related citizen science projects throughout the year.
