I was brought up on a farm and was a farmer for about 10 years. During that time in the 1980’s I discovered the power of spreadsheets for financial planning, and this got me involved in small IT and software company in Tavistock. Later I gave up being self-employed and specialised in setting up accounting systems for SMEs across much of the country, managing small projects and doing training and support. More recently I worked for one company, managing software, databases and processing business information.

Last year I left the commercial world and decided to learn more about how global climates are destabilising due to human activities, how we use that knowledge to slow down and stop those changes, and how to spread the word effectively and constructively. I am delighted to be part of the ACT team with their professional expertise and skills in all the relevant areas. I also belong to our independent village group, Sustainable Ideford, where we share information and resources with mutual benefits.

I believe humans can and must use their amazing skills and knowledge to tackle two huge challenges: to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, and to help the natural world recover from our mistakes.
